The Columbus Area Arts Council’s second
annual MJAI and JWI’s Biggest Block Party Ever takes place
on Saturday, July 28 from 4pm until midnight on 4th Street
between Jackson and Franklin. Admission is $5 and children
12 and under are free.
This fundraiser for the Arts Council was
very successful last year. “It exceeded all our
expectations,” said Warren Baumgart, exec. director.
“Over 2700 people attended and we were able to raise
$12,000.”
This year’s block party promises even more
music. Ten bands will perform on two stages throughout the
evening including the Ann McWilliams Band, Alligator
Brothers, The Luckies and Gordon Bonham.
There will also be more food choices at
this year’s event. Five downtown restaurants will be
serving food at 4th and Washington from special block
party menus. Bistro 310, Powerhouse Brewing Company’s
Columbus Bar Cafe, 4th Street Bar and Grill and Smith’s
Row Food and Spirits will participate again this year. Tre
Bicchieri is a new partner and all of the restaurants have
worked together to make sure they offer a wide variety of
food to satisfy every taste. In addition, alcoholic and
non-alcoholic beverages stations will be placed along the
4th Street corridor.
Face painting, jump house, mini Nascar
racing tract, Buffoon the Clown, dunk tank and kidscommons
programs are just some of the children’s activities
scheduled on Washington between 3rd and 4th Streets from 4
to 9pm.
